CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE: NEF–NVRI TOXICOLOGY INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME 2026 COMES TO A SUCCESSFUL CLOSE
The 2026 NEF–NVRI Toxicology Internship Programme came to a successful close on Wednesday, 19 August 2026, at the NVRI Auditorium, Vom, marking the completion of an intensive three-month training programme that brought together eight (8) interns- six (6) from Nigeria, 1 from Cameroon and the other from Ghana.
The Director/Chief Executive, National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI), Vom, Dr. Dashe G. Yakubu, commended the interns for their resilience, commitment and hard work throughout the programme. He encouraged them to make excellence a habit and to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to create meaningful impact in their respective fields, while remaining proud ambassadors of NVRI, Vom. He also expressed NVRI’s sincere appreciation to the Nduaka Education Foundation (NEF) for its continued commitment to developing young people and for the positive impact its programmes are making in the lives of young researchers.
The ceremony featured presentation of certificates to the interns and goodwill messages from the NEF Mentors’ Representative, Dr. Micah Makoshi; the Interns’ Class Representative; and from Dr. Bitrus Yakubu, Director, Biochemistry and Drug Development which is the host department. He described the programme as the “brightest touch” in the department, noting its contribution to keeping the department aglow.
In a goodwill message delivered on behalf of the President and Board of NEF, Dr. Chudy Nduaka, the NEF Liaison for the Toxicology Internship Programme, Dr. Jurbe Gotep, congratulated the interns on the successful completion of the training and reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to nurturing young people through rigorous scientific learning and capacity development. He encouraged the interns to sustain the spirit of learning, remain curious and committed to excellence, and share the knowledge and experience gained with others.
The ceremony ended on a note of appreciation, celebration and renewed commitment, with the Executive Director reaffirming NVRI’s promise to continue hosting the NEF programme and collaborating with NEF to advance scientific training, research and capacity development.
